Incandescent lighting is comparatively softer but it uses more electricity. It burns hotter and needs to be replaced on frequent basis. Halogen lighting is relatively expensive but appears more natural and can also mimic sunlight. Being energy efficient, it burns for longer time but because of hot burning it requires some extra safety measures.
Overhead lighting produces more intense lighting so a dimmer can be used to set the required intensity level. For more stubble lighting lamps can be an excellent choice. Your style and space in room decides what combination of wall lamps, table lamps, floor lamps or ceiling lights can be made. Lamp shades can also be used to diffuse or direct light to a certain area. These are simple but decorative covers that are available in conical or cylindrical shape. Spotlights can also be considered if you have decorative pieces of artwork. In the end, weather the selection should be energy efficient halogen lighting or cost effective fluorescent lighting will depend on your requirements.
